This weeks lesson on leaving room to breathe was one I struggled with, always wanting to get a little closer and closer. All photos have a layer of kk_felicity and were taken back into Lightroom and the preset kk_darklight was applied.

“If your photos aren’t good enough, then you’re not close enough”
Robert Cappa once said "If your photos aren't good enough, then you're not close enough". As a macro photography enthusiast this saying and "fill the frame" were the two things that always came to mind when I had my camera in hand. I always did know the "rule" about negative space and room to breathe, but it was something I didn't think about often. A few years ago when I had a photo chosen for a magazine cover, it was then I realized how important negative space was. No negative space leaves no room for words to be printed. I've also come to realize that if your photos aren't good enough then they're probably just not good enough.

Thanks for visiting. Sharing with Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday.

Oh my gosh! just absolutely gorgeous! I love the soft fuzzy leaves and the various crops of this image! The first is may fav!
very pretty. I like the way you have tweaked them as well.
Absolutely agree with the quote as a lover of macro more so than any other photography. Your shots are just wonderful, love the moody yet full of life images. Just gorgeous Susan.
Lovely images and post-processing!
Very pretty shots. With macro, I agree it can be hard to find negative space.
Lovely images. I think you've got just the right amount of space in there for us to appreciate the main act and for the frame to not feel in any way crowded. All the best, Bonny
Beautiful tones in your photo's and i love the fuzz on the leaves !!

Wonderful! I feel like I could reach out and touch the fuzz on plants leaves. Great processing too.
Beautiful! Love the tones and textures in your images.
absolutely beautiful photographs..
I'm a fill the frame person too, but I as well am learning.
Susan,
I love this. The leaves appear to be iredescent. Beautiful job this week. I haven't started to use the textures yet. I am hoping to sit down with PS tomorrow.
my goodness these are just stunning. and i know what you mean about the negative space...it takes some getting used to. but lately i've been finding that i crave it not just in my photos, but in my life as well. :)
So lovely! I struggle with white space, also! I love how the light and focus brought out the fuzziness of the succulent!
The leaves are so pretty and interesting!
Beautiful!
Beautiful succulents! Love the details you captured!
Gorgeous work Susan sometimes you have to follow your heart where photography is concerned and your shots are beautiful. the definition on the leaves are wonderful....
Beautiful! I think I said the very first thing on my "Breathe" project for Be Still! I have to work at leaving negative space!
These are all so lovely. I like the fact that you experimented with the direction of the background on the second and third shot. I struggle with whether to add words or not on some of my white space photos. Sometimes I have something to say, but most times I dont.
So interesting and beautiful.
Wonderful. I especiallu like the composition of the first photo . . . love the extra stems including the droopy one.Very nice.
Very pretty and somewhat moody. I think you nailed it! I struggled with last week's assignment too, my mantra always being "fill the frame". It's good to challenge ourselves, isn't it?
