I don't really know where to begin this post.  I took a look back and I made four posts this year, not very consistant.  I must admit, I have had a couple of rough years with the appearance of Alzheimer's in both of my parents, their move to a nursing home and ultimately both of their deaths in the past year.

This year I also lost my job, a job I thought I would be at until retirement, but that's another story for another time.  So many changes in two years, sometimes it's been a little hard to wrap my head around it all.

Good things have also come out of the past two years.  I now have three little grandson's, one four year old and two one year old's.  I am also employed part time, so I'm not sure if I'm semi-retired or semi-employed.

Time has started to heal and it's time to move forward.  I couldn't think of a better place to come back to, but with Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday.  She has been such an inspiration in my photography life.

Here's what I came up with for this week's Texture Tuesday.

I have a vase with bamboo sitting on the table and the sun was streaming through.  The first thing I thought of was using the lens baby with a star filter.  Not being close enough, I added a 4x macro filter.  The photo came out as I wanted with the unfocused light appearing as stars, but the backgound was a little boring, so I added a layer of Kim's autumnburst.  All was going well, but a little blank spot was calling out for an aligator from our trip to Louisanna.

If you've made it this far in the post, thank you for visiting me today.

Oh, this is so cool! It does sound like you've had a rough go of it ... photography can be a great healer ... you mentioned making mistakes in spelling keywords in LR, and I think you can edit them (at least in v5).

I can identify with your story. The exact same thing happened to my parents - a number of years ago. It was exhausting for all of us.

Oh my goodness that is quite a year! Some years are just like that I suppose. I am glad that things have settled down for you.

Welcome back! And you are right Kim and this circle of friends is a safe haven and a creative encouragement. I'm sorry for the struggles in your life. I help to care for my mother who is in the early stages of dementia and this will be a long road. All the more reason for us to support each other. Love on those little grandkids - they'll keep your focus on all that is good! Beautiful and very creative photo today - abstract and very calming.

Really great use of texture here! There is almost a mirror like effect to the photo.

Oh Susan, I'm sorry for the rough times but so thankful you have had some new grandchildren to remind you of the hope we have. You creation is so cool. I haven't played with my lens baby in quite awhile but it will be out for the lights this month. Glad you are back with us.

Lovely, creative photo.
So sorry to hear about all your pain. Losing your parents in the way in which they passed must have been intolerably sad. And then with your job going it must have felt as though your world had been turned upside down. I'm really glad to hear that you've turned the corner. New grandchildren must be such a blessing; some little, new people to add to your precious family circle. I always feel that it's those folk in my circle of close friends and family who keep me going on the bad days.
Wishing you every blessing and creative fulfilment through your blog. All the best, Bonny

Oh Susan, I am so very sorry that you have had such difficult times. I think of you often - it was your beautiful work with textures and your suggestions on Daily Photos that sent me to Kim's marvelous site. I hope you are doing well, in spite of everything.... and I'm so happy to see that you are still taking such wonderful photographs!
